November Poem-A-Day 24

“You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.” – Mae West

That I would grow a garden
where parrots flock and the sweet
fairy wren feels at home
is enough.

To give my young over
to happy romance, to freedom
in the dance of life
is a bonus.

I could not do this perfection
twice. It, like the past I constantly
leave behind, would
bore me to death.
